Rising Star in Martial Arts: Meet Paige Pauley, 14-Year-Old Black Belt and National Champion

At just 14 years old, Paige Pauley is already making waves in the world of martial arts. A dedicated student at Nishime Martial Arts of Cincinnati, Paige is not only a black belt but also a proud member of the prestigious AAU National Karate Team—a title earned by only the most elite youth athletes in the country.

A Champion on the Mat

Paige competes in karate tournaments across the United States and internationally, consistently standing out in the highly competitive disciplines of kumite (sparring) and weapons. Her 2025 season has been especially impressive. At the North American Open International Karate tournament in Las Vegas, Paige brought home two gold medals in kumite, along with a silver in ippon kumite and another silver in weapons. Immediately after, she traveled to Serbia, where she continued to shine by earning a bronze medal in weapons on the international stage.

Last year, Paige’s martial arts journey took her all the way to Scotland, reflecting the global scope of her talent and the dedication she pours into her training.

A Leader in the Dojo

Beyond her achievements in competition, Paige is a role model within the dojo community. As an assistant instructor at Nishime Martial Arts, she helps co-teach children’s classes, guiding the next generation of karate students with patience, enthusiasm, and a deep knowledge of the art. Her leadership doesn’t stop at instruction—Paige is also an official coach for the dojo and frequently mentors younger students, offering encouragement not only to her teammates but also to her competitors at tournaments.

Her positive attitude, sportsmanship, and commitment to helping others make her a standout both on and off the mat.

Balancing School, Sports, and Success

One of the most remarkable things about Paige is her ability to balance a demanding schedule that includes academics, high-level karate training, national and international travel—and another competitive sport: volleyball.

A dedicated student-athlete, Paige excels in the classroom while training multiple days each week at the dojo and participating in team practices and matches for her volleyball team. Whether she’s stepping onto the mat or the court, Paige brings the same focus, discipline, and competitive spirit that have helped her achieve excellence in both sports.

Even when she’s traveling for karate tournaments, she stays on top of her studies with careful planning, self-motivation, and the support of her family, coaches, and teachers. Her ability to juggle multiple commitments while maintaining such a high standard in all areas is nothing short of inspiring.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Paige’s story is a powerful example of what young martial artists can achieve with hard work, passion, and the right support system. Whether she’s training, teaching, traveling, or playing volleyball, Paige embodies the values of perseverance, respect, and leadership that are at the heart of karate and youth athletics.

For families looking for youth karate in Cincinnati or seeking a dojo that builds champions in both skill and character, Nishime Martial Arts offers a world-class environment where students like Paige Pauley thrive.
